103 longevity questions.
I have a 2013 FLHX Street Glide, I've just clicked 60K on mileage and I'm curious as to what I should be looking and listening for? I've ridden this bike instead of it sitting in a garage and catchin a few poker runs here and there. I've done a complete stage one and have always kept fresh oil in all three holes! It runs amazing and I have zero problems with anything. But with that said, I know I have some deeper than "preventative maintenance" coming up! What should I be looking for and listening for? I hear a lot of talk on cams, what's the tell tale signs on cam failure? When I do get into the engine I would imagine I'll take it up to a 110 and I know a new oil pump will be in order while that deep into it. I've heard people say they can't believe I haven't needed new cams yet, my answer is why in the world would I need that, this soon into the game? Well anyways, I'm Lookin to start a conversation on what to expect mechanically speaking in the next year or two. I'll bust 100K on the mileage sometime next year and and it'll be time to get up close and personal with the nuts and bolts that hold my mistress together! I'm Lookin forward to all the responses, thanks in advance😊

Well sir, that is definitely not a garage queen. I would think that if you stayed on top of the maintenance schedule that bike would last you many more miles. While deployed many years ago in Kuwait we used to get Easy rider mags to read. They had an article in it talking about an old guy that had an HD touring bike that had over 200k on it. The details escape me because it was so long ago, but I always remember the article when these questions come up. The gist of the article was that the old dude was religious about the maint of the scoot and it lasted that long. If I remember right, HD caught wind of the high mileage and gave him a new bike so they could rip apart the motor and see what was up. That was back in the late 90's when they were actually trying to make a turn around of their quality. Nowadays I don't think they would give a crap...lol.

U should get easy 130,000 miles from a twincam without anything. .but it would not hurt to add cams for more power nothing crazy just a simple cam like the andrews 48...and some new cam bearings and chain shoes why ur in there maybe even lifters and u should easy go 140,000...only issues with the 103 are maybe a new stator and comp sprocket every so often and there easy there inside primary

Most conversations I remember was 100k, anything above that you were doing something right. As far as a rebuild goes, I know when my time comes a high volume oil pump and an oil cooler will be part of it. It gets hotter where you are, something to think about. I was going the oil cooler to my '14 but kind of senseless without upgrading the oil pump.

You don't need to do anything to the engine until well over 100K. There's no issues with the cam or oil pump. But don't ignore the rest of the bike. Have the brake fluid flushed every two or three years. Change the fork oil and replace the seals and bushings. In other words do the things the maintenance schedule says to do. Not sure how you intend to get to 110. But that'll be a whole engine.
