Speedometer and Odometer Issue
Little help here please. This is a little tricky but I really need the advice. So you can understand it, I'm going to typeslowly:
I have a bike with a kilometer speedometer and have functioned well in theStates by using "6" as my magic number - as in 100(kmh) x 6 = 60(mph), 70(kmh) x 6 = 42(mph). That's always worked fine. So now I get a 6-speed installed and naturally things are all fouled up but I'm riding, screw thefurther shop time for now.
I live in the semi-boondocks and so have a measured distance I tell friends to drive - 5.5 miles as a matter of fact, to where they turn to get to my house. For grins I noted what my odometer said for this distance NOW and it says 5.5 somethings. It used to be 8.9 kilometers because of the KMH speedo of course but now its just somethings. Coincidentally it's the same number of somethings as it is miles. So I can say that somehow my odometer reads in miles now, but what about the speedo??? Does it coincientally read in mph now? When I felt like I was doing about 65 or 70 mph, my speedo said about 78. Naturally I'm going to get a friend to ride with me but is this some complicated mathmatical problem or did I just fall into a pile and come out like a rose?
So my question is: [sm=WTFsgign.gif]

Now seriously folks, how did my kilometer speedometer coincidentally shift to American Mile Per Hour with a change in gearing? What are the odds?
Have you had your morning coffee yet? It'll help. I thought ALL of the answers to the Universal Questions could be found among you fine people.

i guess it is a digital odometer/ electric speedometer
if so 6 speed trans changes signal ratio.
it would change signal calibration.
look in J and P cycle catalog for part needed.
