Default High Octane

When my 05 Fat Boy was delivered (carbed) I was told by the tech that I needed to use the high test gas or the highest octane fuel for the bike. Any truth to this? Can I skimp here? I won't if I shouldn't.

Put in the super and eat the cost like the rest of us.
Your bike will be very happy you did.

The owners manual says the bike requires 91/92 octane fuel.

Never ran a lower octane. Try to get 93 octane which is the highest around here. Is weird that bike gets different gas mileage with different brands of gas. Has anyone else noticed this?

When I bought my Harley, it said to run premium in it, I haven't run anything else and it runs great.

I run the best premium I can get. Manual calls for 91 octane or better, and that's what I do.

Regards,

Bill

I'm with Bill. Highest octane rating around here is 91 but that's the minimum so it's okay.
