Default RE: Liquid cooled vs Air cooled

Every street bike I've ever had has been liquid cooled. I can't tell you how many times I've beencruisin around on my Harley thinking to myself " I can't believe this engine is air cooled ".

Like it or not, I think the future is Fuel Injected Water Cooled Engines.

It is what it is.

You want to change the nature of the beast. I personally think this is a bad idea. Better to develop a new beast, like the vrod and it's varients. Perhaps would like to own one in the future. Last thing I would want to do with it is add weight with a bunch of bags and large fairing. I would rather see it loose weight and have a better hp/weight ratio.

I just can't see the nostalgic aspect of this notion you are bringing. The vrod motor doesn't belong in a model like the Deluxe or Heritage Classic. New (and unique) models should be developed around this design.

I've always wanted a Harley Davidson, I just had other priorities like buying a house and rasing a family soI rode inexpensive Japanese bikes. I decided that for my 40th birthday I'd bite the bullet and get myself a Softail.

Now I'm one happy camper! [sm=smiley20.gif]

I've had alot of water cooled bikes and from an engineering point of view I think they're superior. For sure their mechanicals are alot quieter. I'd buy one in a minute.

I'm not saying that air cooled engines are better than water cooled engines or that I think Carburetors are better than fuel injection.

All I'm saying is thatI don't think the EPA is going to give the MOCO much of an option for it's engine as time wears on..........

I heard the same thing about detroit V8's in the 80's. The V8 is gutted by the epa, blah blah. It took a long time to develop, but today's V8's can be just as potent as those of yesteryear due to quality engineering and parts. Granted, it took a long time.

Disagree with your premise.

If they do, I guess I'll be holding on to my Sportsters for a long time.
