Harley Dealer network/support...
I'll be getting my 1st HD soon and getting it for the purpose of taking some weekend trips with my son. One reason I'm getting an HD is that dealersupport for metrics sux in my experience.
Even a minor issue with a metric (even if under warranty) results in days/weeks of waiting on the dealer to fix the problems. Whereas, on two or three occasions, friends with HD's have had to pull into a dealer for a minor issue while we were on a group ride and the service dept gets them fixed up and back on the road w/in an hr or so (again, this was minor issues).
If I'm a couple hundred miles from home and havesome issues with the HD, has it been your experience that dealers out there will treat me right? I've often heard about the great dealer support/network for HD, but would like to verify this is true.I wonder if my experiences with my friends' Harleys were notjust exceptions. I hear aboutthe GREAT dealer network/support for HD.But, should I believe it? I mean, I also hear that HD's are still as unreliable as they were a couple decades ago. And I know that's BS that's just spread about by folks who don't even own an HD.So, nowI want the truth about dealer support from folks who own them.

I think most of them will take care of you pretty well, no worries. There are of course the occasional HD shop that truly gives credence to the name 'stealer' though. There are a few threads listing places that members on here have had good and bad experiences with.

As far as breaking down and dealer attitute/service, sad to say, but that can be a problem even with a Harley, like Crypto said, it depends on the dealer, availability of parts, etc. Unreliable, yeah that's BS. Harley's have a checkered past with reliability, but that pretty well ended over 30 years ago when AMF dumped the bike business because it didn't fit in with bowling ball business.
They've become as reliable as any other bike on the road. My recommendation, buy it, ride it and enjoy the hell out of it.

Most dealers (Harley and metric)will go out of their way for someone on a trip away from home. That's "most". I think it's just a matter of the luck of the draw.
