Default Break in period.

Just got my 1000 mile service done on my 2015 Limited. I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on how to properly break in a new harley motor.
I followed owners manual on the first 500 miles. I actually changed the engine oil after the first 500 miles, then back to dealer for a full 1000 mile service. After that its pretty vague as to how you can run it. Am i ok to cut it loose or what.

You are free to run my brother, I like the fact that you changed the oil at 500 miles, smart move. So now after holding yourself back, its time to let her rip as you please. Know I would....

You should give it to me. The next 30,000 miles are very crucial. Don't worry about the bike at all, it will be cared for properly and given back next year.

After my 1st bike, I only buy brand-new bikes. you did the smart thing and follow the directions with a brand-new bike now.......... open her up and enjoy!

Go man go!

Just be sure to do the regular service maintenance. In my experience you can run the bike over 100,000 miles easily.

Have a blast!

After the first 1000 mile service, I tend to take the RPMs up slowly. Normally I'll set my shift lights at +500 RPM every 100 miles until redline is achieved. No oil leaks, white smoke and great throttle response across the range.

With the Harley, I only bumped it up +250 instead of +500 due to the 6200 redline.

Cool

You are good to go.

Just did the 1k on my new Sportster. At about 800 miles the rings seated, I guess. I got around a 20% bump in mileage.

All is good. A sweet running bike.
