When do you wear your chaps?

When do you wear your chaps?
Are there any con's to them? I bought my bike 2 weeks ago and just started to ride her to work yesterday. It was 38 deg yesterday. Do you wear yours all the time or only when it gets below a certain temp. I am assuming riding around town you won't wear them but on any kind of a road trip you would?
Any input on chaps is appreciated.

I used to wear chaps anytime the temps were below 50 degrees, but I found the perfect riding overpant and now I wear those. The First Gear HTv2.0 Overpant is a great product. Removable liner (used all the way down into the 20s personally) and they work as light rain pants.
Since I bought the overpants, I got rid of my chaps. Oh, I ride to work just about everyday too. I only skip on heavy rain days and days that are below about 25 degrees.

I have those overpants and use them for commuting. They work great.

Anytime when I want to have better protection for my legs I wear chaps. If I am just riding around the city, Itypically just wear draggin kevlar jeans. If Iam on a longer ride I wear chaps unless it is just too hot.
