Yeah, I don't care much for the way they look, but when it's about 60 or cooler I try and remember to put them on. I drove to work last week at 10pm and it was 50deg. I really was glad to have them.

 

I wear Tourmaster overpants (the nylon/cordura variety) when it's in the 40's or below, they really keep the wind out and keep me warm.&nbsp\\; They even came with a&nbsp\\;thinsulate liner but I found I don't really need the liner at all even in the upper twenties.

 

Ace, you know what they say about those that protest too much.

 

Chaps are for saving your skin ...&nbsp\\;strait, gay or bi jeans last about 5' when slding across asphalt while a good pair of chaps can provide 80' to 90' of protection. I never plan to go down but if and when I do I hope to get up with as much skin in place as possible ... call it what you want, I call it smart.

Mostly when I'm naked running around the campsite... or when it get's cold and I'm out riding.&nbsp\\; One is more socialable accepted than the other.&nbsp\\; Then there's the "man couples" in California.... NOT what you want to be part of! lol.&nbsp\\; &nbsp\\;

 

I wear them every time I ride! Been riding for over 30 years and I'm getting too old to scrape my legs with a wire brush to remove road rash. They save your legs for another 10 seconds or so if you go down. Don't care what the fashion police dictate! I've found that when you go down on a big twin your lower torso usually hits pavement 1st.[>:]

No chaps. No leather jacket. No leather vest. No fingerless gloves. I use to wear that crap but it did squat to protect me 3 years ago when I went down. All I remember is that it was crap that they had to cut off of me in order to get to my broken bones.&nbsp\\;

 

if you wear your chaps all the time do you wear a spur on the left boot?

 

I mine in temps below 50 and on road trips. They help reduce the fatigue factor when riding all day long. Plus they keep the road grime and bugs off the pants so I don't have to do as much washing while on the longer road trips....
