Default TC88 Carb – What cam did you use – would you do it again?

My 2000 Carbed Dyna is in need of new tensioners. Plan to do a cam as well and leaning towards the 07 cam plate solution using the Andrews “N” series cams.

I have read tons of threads and articles, however, real world feedback is always good.

So how is your before and after? Looking for things like performance, idle, millage, vibration, sound, etc. – Thanks!

I went with an Andrews 57 on my Road King but that was because of the S&S 97" going in now. Quite happy with it before the upgrade so really looking forward to how it runs after the build.

I'm running SS510 gear drive's on my 2002 FLHTC that I converted to a trike with a Lehman trike kit. My tension shoes went out at about 25K miles. I currently have 70K miles on it and I would do it again. I also added a fueling oil pump. I also have a dynojet kit in the carb and its punched out to 95 inch.

+1 on the S&S 510G's. Have had them in my 06 Heritage for quite sometime. I bought an 05 FXST a few years ago and will probably install those cams in it when it needs new tensioners.

I used to run the S&S 510G cams in my bike, but wanted a little more low end torque and switched to the Andrews 26G cams. I get about 49 mpg when I'm on a road trip, but mpg depends on how you ride.

The andrews 21 cams are like the andrews 26s just a drop more low end.. I ran a andrews 21 cam with a carb and it was a amazing setup..bike pulled hard low end is really strong...I was getting 45 mpg and bike is smoother now then it was stock...in fact it's silky smooth...the andrews 21 cam added so much power it motivated me to do more so I did heads and big bore kit and wow the bikes even faster now....Andrews 21 cam is about the best drop in cam there is if ur looking for real world power down low and mid range

For an 88", I'd go with the 21Ns. I used 24Ns with my 95" build and they work great. I'm running the stock pushrods too. I also replaced the inner cam bearings with Timkens.

The 96''ers and 88's are not all that diff.. In our 96'' I went with the 26's.. really like them, easy on engine, good CCC. lowered the oil temp and increased mileage by 3-5 mpg.

all the while having a good increase across the sheet in TQ..

and Yes I'd install them again, but I'd have to say I would also look and learn more about the 222's Wood's if I got another bike and added cams only because they look good also on paper????

I also add.... for a light bike ridden solo the SE204's are also a great cam in the 2500-5000 rpm range.. and they have one of the best sounds if You like/want a Loppy sounding cam.
