To be honest, I'm just posting to subscribe to your thread.

Seriously though, if it were me I would try to put it back together as your dad might have done. To me, it looks like it is past ever being original again. Maybe the way to go is a new S&S motor? Good Luck!

I definitely won't be trying to bring it as an original pan, but as my dads "original"

I don't offend that easily. And I wouldn't go asking to have a thread removed because one guy questioned you. It's just that I was raised in a bike culture and have had projects all my life. It would never occur to me to ask for help. But I'm from a different time.

That said, if my kid went on the 'net to get cash to rebuild my scoot, I would reach up from whatever fiery pit I'm sure to be in and slap him upside the head.

I still like the project and I still wish you luck. I will simply encourage you to do it over time with your own funds. You'll be happier in the end.

And fwiw, I have fire fighters as friends and they get by. One even has 2 kids in college and 4 bikes.

I don't have a problem with the link, FWIW.

GOOD LUCK on your resurrection! Really cool to see you're doing it.

Also consider finding a place to ship it. Crating and shipping may be a little costly, but there's some good old school Pan wrenches here in the Midwest that don't know what coastal money is. Might save you some coin.
