Default Parking the bike

I apologize if this question has been beat to death on the forums. I did a quick search and well I suck at it so I'll ask again. It's been a few years of riding and not sure if the culture as changed.

When you are going out some where, grocery store, movie theatre, dinner, etc and there is sidewalk large enough to park the bike on it, do you? I hate to be that guy that takes up a whole parking spot for just one bike so I'll usually park up on an area, away from the entrance.

I'm not sure if it's even legal in Colorado but I see it a lot.

What do you normally do and thoughts on parking up on a sidewalk?

Thanks

I park where the yellow stripped area is at the end of the row. I've see blue stripes and I THINK that's designated as handicapped but I'm not sure. But I never park on the "sidewalk" or the area connected to the store.

i myself will park in a reasonable place when im out and about... it all depends on where im at and what others have done there... there has only been a couple times when i have parked on the sidewalk, most of the time i will find a spot that has the yellow painted wedges that are not for cars and park there... if im with another bike then i do use a parking space

I always wondered if you could legally park in the yellow stripped areas. We have some white ones here at work but they're relatively small. We do have a few designated motorcycle spots but the ******* cagers fill it up. I've asked to have them removed but hasn't gone well.

If you have designated bike parking at your job and cars are parking there, see management about it. They SHOULD say something to the owners.

Oh...if I have to park in a car spot, I park toward the open end of it, in case someone comes wheeling in, thinking it's empty, they'll see the bike before they get to the spot.

At our local shopping mall, I've seen them ticket/tow bikes that were parked in the yellow striped area at the end of the row, so you might want to be careful, and check parking policy where you park.

^ that's what I'm worried about. Who would I call or look at to verify that?

Usually park in a regular parking space.

And yes Phil.. those blue striped lines area are for Handicap access.

Here in Ind you are not suppose/allowed to park in the blue stripped area's and they will ticket you for doing that if one does and that also is true even if you have HC plates.

99.9 percent in parking spot... i think more people frown on parking on curbs sidewalks of spots with lines threw them(that usually means no parking)

taking a spot up weather its your car or bike is the same in the end,,,,, u r there and need a spot ...... not like every cage came with 2 or more people in it
