One thing you'll lose is sweaty armpits. They'll stay cool and dry!

My experience is that if your hands are above you're shoulder then you lose some handling and control. Shoulder height and below then it's about the same and no loss of handling and control. But that is just my experience and I've had some tall apes.

I did find it a little more difficult in slow speed tight turns but normal riding through the canyons is fine.
I've got a bulged disc and sciatica from a work injury 8 years ago. On previous bikes that had drag bars or other low type bars I would start getting my back to flare up after an hour or two. I figured I'd just always be stuck being an afternoon rider after that. Any type of forward lean to reach the bars caused this. I've always liked the way apes look on Dynas so when they were recommended to me by another rider with a similar injury I put them on and once I got the position correct I can ride all day with no back pain and shooting pains down my right leg.
