I forgot to reply to the original question. I agree with Visago. The first day felt a little weird, but after that it was easy. No issues with tossing it around in the curves. I seem to grind my floorboards a little more now. And they're definitely more comfortable as others have noted.

Either way, I don't think anyone here really cares about your opinion.

Take care!

Self respect has nothing to do with what anyone else thinks. Check with Mr. Webster and see for yourself (I'm assuming you know who Miriam Webster is.)
I too don't buy things to please others but a vast majority are under the impression that apes look "bad" particularly when paired with a bank robber style bandana worn over the face, a 'get back' whip, and full on SOA style riding apparel.
That crapola ain't for me.

There are those that change out to taller bars for comfort - got a couple of buds that have had to go that way. But they sure as hell don't care if it makes them look "bad". (Those two are bad enough without going for that look.)

And as far as anyone caring what I think, speak for yourself man...I do and I don't much care if anyone else likes it. This is a forum where opinions are expressed - both yours AND mine.

Have yourself a nice day.

The op asked about the handling characteristics of apes. You chimed in with "Only thing you'll lose is a bunch of self respect" which had absolutely nothing to do with his question. One definition of self respect is "pride and confidence in oneself; a feeling that one is behaving with honor and dignity". A person who has pride and confidence in their self and a feeling of behaving with honor and dignity doesn't come into a thread and make their self look like a retard like you have done. The remark about people with apes wearing a bank robber bandana and get back whips is equally stupid and irrelevant to this conversation. You made an assumption about him wanting apes because they would make him look like a bad *** when appearance wasn't part of his question, but hey, reading comprehension isn't everyone's strong suit so don't worry, you're not alone.

While there are those that put apes on for comfort the vast majority put them on to look baaad. Then they put a bandana bank robber style to add to the totally bad ambiance.
Makes no difference to me except that self respect is what keeps me from doing the same.

Reading comprehension? Retard?
I'm so humiliated?!! You slayed me.

I gather you're a card carrying "I've got those real bad looking ape-hangers" type. Good for you - just realize they ain't for everybody. And try not to be so defensive when others giggle at your appearance. Some just can't help it.

Now then, his (the OP) question was: "if I change them with apes will I lose that good cornering capacity?"
My remark was a play on words......look it up and read it twice - you need the practice at understanding and comprehension.

Gotta love keyboard tough guys. Even if I think someone's bike is Ridiculously stupid. I keep it to myself. If you can't make a comment to help the guy out then STFU. People like you are the ones who ruin forums like this. Being a member as long as you have I would think you would set an example for newer members. But instead you need to belittle people.
People like you should be kicked off this forum. You joined in 2008 and have over 3,000 posts yet you have no friends on your friends list jeez I wonder why

Whoa!!! Slayed again.

I have plenty of friends, a couple of which have apes on their bikes. They just didn't put them on to look like billy bad-***.
I made no comment regarding the OP's bike. If he wants apes so be it.
I simply made a little joke - get over yourself man.
Moving on now - can't stand the heat form all the hot heads.

The fact I have apes on my bike had nothing to do with me pointing out how stupid you've made yourself look in this thread. This forum seems to be overloaded with blowhards like yourself who enter threads and make comments that have nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Physics says apes will raise the center of gravity on your bike making it not handle as well. Your call on if the look/comfort is worth the minor reduction in handling capability.

I always thought apes looked uncomfortable. My ignorance. I rode a friends bike with apes and I loved it. In fact I liked it so much I am putting them on my deuce.
I did find it a little more difficult in slow speed tight turns but normal riding through the canyons is fine.
