Default Clutch adjustment necessary?

If my clutch feels fine is an adjustment needed during fluid change? Or just do it anyways? Just wondering what the consensus is. Have always done it in the past.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. I recently did the 15,000 mile service on my Ultra and I haven't had my clutch adjusted since the dealership did it, or should I say I think they did it, at the 1000 mile service. I did finally adjust the clutch lever at 16,000 miles because it wasn't fully retracting back when I let it go. That was an easy adjustment as all I had to do was tighten the cable under the boot in front of the engine. I didn't have to actually adjust the clutch basket.

Not unless it's giving me trouble.

If it's not broken, fix it until it is. No I'd leave it alone!

I lube my clutch cable at every service interval. If it doesn't need adjusting before I do my service I just take the slack out at the adjuster and pull the cable away from the lever and lube it. I don't do the long way at the clutch basket. It might be overkill but I like having my cable lubed.

You don't need to lube the clutch cable on a newer bike. I will just adjust out the slack on the cable till I do the primary oil change. Since the derby cover is off for the primary oil change you might as well adjust the clutch. But, the derby cover will come off if there is a big change on the clutch lever.

If it shifts well and it's easy to find neutral...you don't need to adjust it.

just because the service manual says to adjust the clutch, it doesn't mean you have to. if you like how it is working leave it alone.

I use finding neutral as the guide for clutch adjustment. Once I struggle to find neutral it is time to adjust. Only takes few minutes if you already have the cover off for a primary change.
