Default 2000 Roadking...need advice on purchase

Hey all,
Due to some family issues I have been down here in Texas the past few weeks and probably will be here a few more. I have 2 bikes but they are 1100 miles north and the warm weather down here has me itching to ride.

I have an opportunity to purchase a 2000 Roadking from a rather large auction house and need some opinions. The bike is in really nice shape and had 56k on the clock. It's has efi and that is where my concerns come in...they are asking $7400 but $6300 cash takes it. They let me take it out for about 30 minute and it seemed to ride and run well. Here is a few pics as well. Any thoughts are appreciated.

The price of $6300 sounds reasonable. Since you probably don't have a way to get it checked it you still have a little cushion if some things are needed. At least you got to ride it and if nothing jumped out at you, it looks like a decent bike and deal.

If you want it buy it but I would have long term concerns. I have an 01 (carb) and the swing arm cracked. Pretty costly to upgrade to 02+ but I did. Check the spokes making sure they all have a nice tight ting sound to them. Plenty more but looks like a nice bike and the price is pretty darn good IMO.

On the surface, it's a really nice looking bike. Past that, only you can be the judge.

Come on now you already have two other bikes. Buy the road king, and after
all said an done, sell the bitch if she doesn't say your name while you are riding her.

Well i went back to the auction house 3 times in the past 2 days...the floor manger was tired of seeing my face and asked what is it going too take to get me from stop coming in and drooling. I told him 6k flat and i would be a memory...we settled at 6200 and 200 miles later i have no regrets.

P.S. dang i love Texas!

That's a lotta kablingy for a 15 year old bike with 56K miles, known camtensioner problems, and a MM EFI system. Hope you didn't make a bad decision.

I would have stayed cleared of MM EFI. From the pics it looks like it isn't a carb model.

Good luck, enjoy!

DON"T DO IT! The EFI is a pain, I know I have a 2000 Ultra that took forever to get sorted out. its a MMI EFI system, HD only had them for a year, swapping it over to carb is a chore and your money could be better spent elsewhere.

Once more MMI EFI run away ... run away...
