Default Price of licence plate ?

Just received my licence plate renewal and I'm wondering how much you guys pay in our areas...

I live in Quebec and up here we have to pay for life insurance so the pricing goes like this:

- $86.74 for the licence renewal;
- $480.39 for insurance;
- $4.35 for admin

for a total of $571.48 for about 8 months of riding.

Here in Colorado we pay according to the value of the vehicle. A $25,000 Ultra for example would run $400.00 your first year, then the following years the fee would go down. I believe my 20 year old Saturn was $35.00 this past renewal.

You have to buy life insurance as a condition of vehicle registration? Your private insurance isn't enough? Is that the same in all Canadian provinces?

Ya, we quebecers pay through the nose for our registration. Thankfully our insurance is pretty cheap compared to the rest for Canada. My 2008 fat bob is running me 349 a year to insure. It's still overall close to a grand a year just to paper the bike. And 8 months is pushing it best case for riding. It's really only May June July August for premium riding. April sept and oct are hit and miss. Could be snowing, lol. Still worth it to me.

Here the life and responsability insurance is built-in the price of renewal, the price depends on the bikes HPs. A racer bike will pay over 1,000$ for insurance.

We use private insurance to pay for damage only.

Do you have any scofflaws that register in Maine, Vermont or New York and live in Quebec?
Nevada vehicle reg. is pretty expensive, about $350 for my Superglide. NV has no income tax so they make it up in other areas.

I hear ya. I ride in pretty terrible weather. I was referring to the sweet times of the year when you don't have to dress like going on a snow machine. It's better than not riding, but man it's nice to walk out the front door, hop on the bike and just go.

Yeah... when you get a ticket you also get demerit points... more you lose points higher the price of your licences renewal will be.

Default Price in Illinois

And I thought Illinois was expensive. Not so, I guess. I pay $135 for the plate/sticker renewal. The state mandates that I must have insurance but that can be liability only. My 08 Ultra Classic with full coverage is $421 per year (full coverage is required by HD credit).
