Lots of things I miss about Quebec/Mtl. The architecture, the food, the culture, and even the language (since most of my friends, even my francophone ones don't subscribe to the language police wall of shame). But I don't miss the taxes, the registration fees, and the potholes! I always felt that for the taxes I paid without bitching I should get a better infrastructure

Here in VA, registration is also based on cost of vehicle if memory serves but still pretty reasonable overall and my insurance is dirt cheap with full coverage.

Where did you get that nonsense from?
We are not required to have life insurance period, never mind requiring it to ride a bike.
Every Province does require liability insurance, and it's usually stupid expensive. I pay about $600 for six months liability insurance, I don't even bother asking what full coverage costs.
BTW, $600 includes my 40% discount for being claim free for at least 10 years.

I pay my insurance by the year and I think it was about $250. And my plates were about $50-60 and inspection was $15. But, we have to pay it, which is why I'm not 100% sure of the exact cost. I could look it up but I'm close.

Ontario is $42 per year if you live in southern Ontario and only $21 per year if you live in northern Ontario. You have to have at least liability insurance and that's something you shop around for on your own to get the best deal. Full coverage including liability and collision to cover the cost of your own vehicle averages roughly $1,200 per year.

No, it isn't. No such ominous mandate in Alberta. Vehicles must be insured however. Motorcycle tag costs about $55/yr. here I think.

My Illinois plate is $41 and full coverage on a 2014 CVO Limited is $515. I'm in downstate Illinois. Maybe that's why my plate is cheaper than the other Illinois plates.

My plate fee is $15.00 per year. Insurance on the bike for 12 month is about $1100.00...full coverage...I kill someone I'm covered, I die wife is rich, 2x4 falls from the garage rafters I'm covered. Someone steals my bike I get a new one.

Insurance for a crotch rocket is about $2500.00 per year...don't seen many on the street.

I live in Quebec and up here we have to pay for life insurance so the pricing goes like this:

- $86.74 for the licence renewal;
- $480.39 for insurance;
- $4.35 for admin

for a total of $571.48 for about 8 months of riding.
I got that "nonsense" from the OP, a Canadian resident. Apologies in advance accepted.
