Default First Time Stranded

Well, first real ride of the season and I end up stranded on the side of the highway. I thought I had done my due diligence yesterday, going on a short ride close to home to be sure all the winter mods were good to go! About an hour from home, I notice an issue with the tranny. Long story short(ish), I end up stranded on the side of a very busy highway. Within a few minutes a couple of guys take pity on me and stop to see if I need help ( both bikers by the way). I am busy going through my contacts for buddies that have trailers, when one of the guys who stopped tells me he lives close by and will go get his trailer for me. Now this guy doesn't know me from Adam, but says he'll run home and unload his bike, then come back with it and we can load her up. Half an hour later he's back, helps me load, then drives me to a nearby gas station to wait for the OL to show up with my truck to haul it home. I tried to leave him with some cash, or at least a cheque as a sort of deposit, but he wouldn't hear of it. Peter, I owe you man!! Gotta love the biker community when your down and out! Peter has some good Karma coming his way! Hope I can return the favour some day.

Had the same happen to me some years back. Mine was a rear flat and since got rid of spokes. Glad things worked out for you. Keep on riding and that karma will come back at you, unless you have the same monkey on your back as I do....

Yes, there are still some true "Bikers" out there! Glad for you that one happened along. Way too many people out there could care less about anyone but themselves!! One of these days KARMA will catch-up with them.

I help people out when I can. But I'll be honest... With a hitchhiker, or your average 'broken down car,' you never know what you'll get. I always keep my guard up.

With bikers, you typically know exactly what you'll get... They just want to fix their ride, get gas, or whatever.

Funny how the most "threatening" strangers to stop for, will be the least problematic. And will also be more than happy to repay the favor, no questions asked!

Vey cool! I always try to stop and help a biker. Last year I was in my cage and stopped, we tried everything to get his bike to turn over, went over everything. I tried pushing him but couldn't do it myself; right about then a group of about 15 bikes blew by us, none of them stopped.... I was pretty irritated by that...

Looks like the issue was with the clutch cable adjuster. May have to replace the cable, but hopefully that is all!! Either way, was much happier looking at it in my shop vs the side of the road. Way too many distracted drivers out there. Not worth the risk!!
