Question about sellin Harley parts. . . .
Question about sellin Harley parts. . . .
I have a 2007 FXSTB (shown below)
I have since replaced the stock pipes & seat.
I am now slowly replacing some other parts now too.
Is it worth trying to sell the stock items I’m swappin out?
I have the stock seat & pipes just sittin in the garage Timing cover and football air cleaner cover too.
Maybe I’ll just hammer a nail into the wall and hang all the old parts in a memorial. . . .
What do you all do with the old parts?

ebay.....but you won't get a lot for them I'm afraid (you might do okay on the seat). Check first to see what others are selling similiar parts for.

RE: Question about sellin Harley parts. . . .
I've generally just kept my take offs. Although I'm sure there's a market out there somewhere, for me, it just wasn't worth the hassle. I remember when I picked up my new bike last year, I asked for all the take offs; including exhaust. The sales guy took me around the side of the building and showed me what they did with the stock exhausts; trashed them. They were literally piled some 5 feet high in a bin out back just waiting to be dumped. So it was then that I figured my stock exhaust wouldn't be in too high a demand for someone. I have lots of stock parts just hanging 'round in the garage.

I'd visit the "classified" of the fourm section, look for items similar to yours, if their pricing is near what you want & worth the added UPS to get it tothem then post the parts there, I think its just me, but I'm not a big fan of ebay. The few things I've purchased via the classifed I've have always been happy with.

I have all the stock parts that came with the bike. The guy I bought mine from had the motor upgraded a bunch. I have replaced the seat and pillion. I figure that if, god forbid, I should ever sell it, someone might want the stock parts. I have several boxes full.
I don't want to sell the stuff at give away prices. I might run into someone who had something I wanted to trade. I don't think you can have too many mc parts.

There is a guy in the Want to Buy section of the classifieds forum that will buy your stock exhaust. Seats can be sold as well. I've even seen some guys buying stock footpegs and mirrors. I guess it just depends on how much effort you want to put into it. Like was said before, don't expect to get a lot for it.

I know you're in NY but that stock exhaust might be real handy if they ever start requring testing of any sort. In California you would be crazy not to hang on to it.
