one word about Willie G : SUPERGLIDE

 

I met him and his wife at the All Harley Drags last year. Very nice and friendly guy! Like others have mentioned here, he has been a very important part of the Motor Co.

My cousin worked for HD in the main office - she said Willie G was great to her - she raved about his son - said he's one of the nicest guys in the world - she was diagnosed w/MS and Willie G and HD took good care of her. She can't work, but she still talks to Michael on a regular basis. Her husband bought an old knucklehead off Michael - it's pretty sweet! She had nothing but nice things to say about the Davidson family.

 

It's pretty simple really...
***** G. isthe face of HD.
He is a spokesman and a connection to the founder.

How much does he really have to do with the company?
I don't really know. His job is to be nice to folks like you..
I remember watching the infomercial on the design and production of the V-Rod.
I know he must have been stoned on the day that he gave his (add heavenly music here) "blessing"to the V-Rod.
Probably the same substance he used when he designed the Boat Tail.

I think a lot of it is the general "I am cool because I am bashing the MoCo".

Willie and the group that bought the company back from AMF in late '81 have taken the MoCo in the right direction. They have made a few bad calls, but just as many good ones. Willie designed many the bikes that have kept Harley at the front of the pack.

I got an idea of what Willie G is all about by reading the "!00 Years Of Harley Davidson" book....lots of background on him there and nice insight into what makes him tick as far as design and his feelings about the heritage of the company.Count me in as really liking Willie G and as being thankful for what he's broughtto the MoCo.

 

I read today in the May Thunder Press that the president and COO, Jim McCaslin has toldstaff above the directors level- all 170 of them-to get out to at least 2 bike events tomeet with the general public.

 

Maybe all 170 of them should meet with the poor people with the 07's that are looking for help. Hell, My 06 has been denied warranty claims a couple of times. Like to talk to ole Willie G. about that!
