Default Brake lights will not turn off. Any help would greatly be appreaciated.

I'm working on my wife's 2007 Nightster and honestly have no idea where to begin. I would imagine it is in the hand brake or the foot brake but I'm unsure what to look for or test. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

2 things to check on front lever. First check for the little button behind lever. This breaks off sometimes and this will keep brake light on. Other is master cylinder needs rebuilt. To make sure it is front just push lever out to see if light shuts off.

First, most simple thing to do is loosen the clamps that holds the front master cylinder/brake lever assembly and make sure the brake lever is pushed tightly against the master cylinder unit.

Most times or almost every time the brake light stays ON it is do to the switch at the hand lever.
While pressing the hand brake fully go ahead and look with a good flashlight for the tip of the switch.
The switch is in the space created by the opening of the lever when you squeeze it.
Looking into that created cavity and the button tip should be visible.
The switch works backwards of what most expect.
Switch Out is ON and switch in is OFF.
Squeezing the lever lets switch out (ON) and then releasing the lever pushes the switch in (OFF).
Most times the switch is damaged (tip sheared) when the hand brake lever is changed or removed without the piece of cardboard or whatever recommended in the service book.
Some folks change the switch and other folks get around it with a shim or whatever.

Thank you all! I will see if this is the culprit.

Unplug the connector on the rear brake switch. If light goes out there is the problem.
Mine went out on my 08'fatboy. Simple fix also.

This is the easiest way to check if it is the front or back switch. If you haven't played with the handle bar controls I would suspect rear switch. This happened to mine also
