Full paint job cost estimate
#24
I'm debating. My local dealer has both a Fat Bob and a Low Rider on the floor that they really want to sell me vs. bringing in one from another dealer, because I don't want either paint colors.
I'm considering taking one if I can get enough of a discount to cover a paint job. Question is, what is a paint job going to cost. Nothing fancy. A single color of the same quality as a new bike. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Just make 100% sure the guy you choose has solid ratings & good reviews. Make sure he sends you a mock up drawing as well as pics throughout the process just to be sure.
Regarding my bike, I had gotten in an accident and had a dent in the tank. The guy in Utah fixed it no problem and didn't charge me extra. It has been nearly 8 years later and his paint job has held up extremely well!

Rear Fender

For a tank and 2 fenders? Over a factory fresh paint job? That's a crazy price. It's a scuff and spray job with no bodywork that can be completed in a couple days easy. I've had complete cars painted for less than the price you're saying. Man I need to get back into the paint business and start charging WAY more

I guess prices vary based on location, but i just had my tank, fenders, fairing, can spoiler painted with PPG paint (Harley Charcoal Pearl) for $500. The quality was just as good (if not better) than coming from the factory.
In the past I had the same place repaint my tank vivid black (again using PPG) and that cost me $200.
I know another place around by me that was going to do the tank and 2 fenders for $300 (But they only had a couple of codes that matched the harley paints and couldn't replicate the other ones).
If you can and don't mind doing the work yourself, then I would have no hesitation about buying the bike I want, having them knock the money off the sale price, and using that to get my tins painted.

Had this '93 bagger repainted in 2001. Originally a Shriner white. I pulled all the tins and fairings, removed all the trim and supplied the Harley decals for the painter. $1,000. The artwork not included, that was another $1,000 to the Scarecrow When I sold it in 2010 the paint was in mint condition.
