One Joker on here posted "Just today I saw this stunning red Deluxe and it had these redonkulously ginormous bars that ,in my opinion,completly ruined the bike.Am I missing something? Every time I see a bike like that It just screams POSER!"

apes = poser?
Hey Faction - there is a dude that I see from time to time around here with apes like yours but I think a bit taller. He almost dumps his bike every time he tries to turn from a stop. Funny to watch.
It does take a little more skill to manuver when stopped or at very low speeds. But other than that its really no different.

At the so cal meet and greet I saw a few "gangster'd out" Deluxes that had 1.5" thich apes that had to have been 20" tall. Those were way out of control and just looked stupid IMO.

Taken from the sticky Biker Lingo thread:

Apes/Ape Hangers - Handlebars that are very high, and which raise the rider's hands above the shoulders. If the hands ain’t above the shoulders, they ain’t real apes.
Thank you for that tid bit of information.....

Bill Grandpa,

Can you physically even ride a bike with ape hangers? Maybe thats why you are so scared of them?
Don't take it personal youngster, my opinion has nothing to do with wether I can ride a bike with a set of apes. I just do not care for the looks of them, so get over it..... and by the way I am 42 years old and can go a round with you any day at what ever you like, riding or what ever.........

Take Care,
Bill G

SO..................I am curious how apes handle a
hard Panic Stop. Dose your upper body have a tendency to want to go through the center of the bars?........I'm not talk'n about mini apes, There just streched out buckhorns to me. And not just any stop........A HARD! one

I do not know, never have ridden a set of apes. I would think what your saying would happen, they are probably not the best bars for handeling.
The only opinion I had about apes was personal when I said thatI did not care for the looks ofthem on Harleys.

Ape hangers do look cool. Don't know that I will go that route. When I first got my Fatty I wanted them bad. Now I love my handle bars and don't want to change. Of course I said that about my slip ons too!!!$$$$$$$$$$

Put some miles on. Get comfortable with your scoot. Then when your comfortable, look into getting some. They feel really natural.
