RE: Misconceptions about ape hangers...
For those riders that claim theat the apes actually releive back/shoulder pain etc. Are there any ways to get a medical statement from a physician that you can carry so when you're traveling you don't get ticketed due to a "height" issue. I know steering wheels/controls can be modified on cars/trucks/vans for people to make it easier to operate. not sure why somone couldn't make a change under an ADA position?

I don't have enough money to pay a Doctor to research that sort of claim.
Point is, it's more comfortable for me.
Obviously, you won't need a Doctors note if you can stay within the law. In my state I have to have my grips lower than my shoulders. Mine are not, but I'm crazy like that!

I love em' but can't ride for ****with em'! I'm always a bit envious when I see a pair on a RK. I'd really like to go with red wheels on mine but, without apes it just doesn't look right and I sure can't ride with em' so, I look and enjoy.

here is a pic of a bike of a guy that I know.
He had the apes cut, made them taller and re welded. I don't know how tall they are but he never gets any problems from the cops in Texas.

I love them and won't ever go back to shorter bars.I started off with the stock buckhorns on my 92 springer and didn't like them. I changed to some 12" apes and loved them. I changed again to 18"s and rode for 2 years with them and currently went to 20"s.I rode a friend of mines sporty with 12's and was all over the road with it. It just takes getting used to them. It feels like you have power steering with them. I don't like the feel of the drag bars and that most of the times it is impossible to see out of the mirrors because of the shoulders being in the way.
