Interesting thread. I was thinking about a set for my Deuce. Broke my back 2 years ago (C5 & C6), and still have a screwed-up shoulder & collarbone. After a day of riding, it feels like my arm's coming out of its' socket, but it's always been something I've just lived with.

I sat on the bike and measured - with my arms outstretched, and a 14" set of apes, my hands would be at shoulder level, slightly bent. After all this, I'm wondering if I should go with 16's. Opinions?

Also, are there kits you can buy with everything included inside the bars (ie wiring, clutch & throttle cables)? Anyone know of any suppliers?

Have a look at these guys; I think a few of the fellas here have bought their apes from them with little or no problems. I’m seriously thinking of buying a set from them.

Rabbit, these guy's are stink holes. It took over a month to get my bars. I liked the set-up, But it was winter and I had the time to wait. But now and dealing with hill county liars, I would not stand for it at riding season.

Your call.

Glad to see this thread resurrected from the dead. "Ape hangers are for posers and are uncomfortable..."

I've got stock Bob bars on my FXD. Single best mod ever to any bike I have ever had. All these years I could have been riding like this (re: comfortable). My other bikes were ok, but the slightly raised bars put me in exactly the right position to ride all day without any arm fatigue. Not sure I'd ever go any higher, but know for sure I'll never go back to those stock bars. I may be posing, but I'm posing as a comfortable guy.

I got mine from Hill Country, no problems, took about a week. Everything fit perfect.

A Fat Boy isn't truly a Fat Boy until it has Ape's.

Ain't got no misconceptions about apes - I love 'em. The Streetbob apes I put recently on my sporty makes the bike handle 10 times better - at least I'm hunched over the tank. First time I've enjoyed the sporty since I bought it.

ORIGINAL: FACTION95

One Joker on here posted "Just today I saw this stunning red Deluxe and it had these redonkulously ginormous bars that ,in my opinion,completly ruined the bike.Am I missing something? Every time I see a bike like that It just screams POSER!"

apes = poser?

Actually I'm the joker that wrote that post. Now I would'nt say poser. Now I would say "screaming for attention"!! Mini apes are one thing. Though not my thing I can see why some like them. But ginormous apes just look stupid. IMO.
It's your bike do with it what you want.
