Harley "soul"?
#11
I've had a love affair with motorcycles for 50 years now. Had a number of them, of various makes. I had a '73 BMW for 15 years that I really connected with. I owned a later BMW that had no personality and was no fun to ride. I bought my first HD in '09 (a Super Glide) and was pleased that it had a personality. It wasn't an appliance, was fun to ride, and gave me great satisfaction. I now own an '11 FLHTCU and love it, too. The Harleys aren't perfect bikes, but they give me joy and pleasure. Has anyone else noticed that bikes have personalities?
I understamd where you're coming from. Yes, they are a machine, and no I don't name my bikes or cars....however, certain bikes do have "soul" for lack of a better term, they move you. But, I don't think it has to be a Harley to give you that feeling.

That's the owner not the bike and wouldn't matter what they had. Bike either speaks to you on that level or it doesn't and most people are stone deaf about it.

I do believe it is a connection between the rider and the bike that the soul comes from.

They (bikes of any brand) have as much in them as you invest of your own. I invest quite a bit. Ride, clean, wrench... I trust my bikes with my life, and trust only myself with the mechanical work. So it gets very personal. I don't feel that way about cars at all. Probably would an airplane, though, if I flew.

Does the motorcycle have soul? Or does something about it, sound or vibration or ?, make you feel something?
