Am I wrong about letting people pass me in my own lane

RE: Am I wrong about letting people pass me in my own lane
I think it's nicer to let them by. I mean we are all motorcyclists out enjoying the ride. plus it's safer in the long run. They are going to pass no matter what, so might as well make it as safe as possible.

I know of two serious bikeaccidents on the BRP in the past couple of years. In one crash, one bike rear ended the other. A young woman was killed.

I/we have seen many, many motorcycle wrecks on the
BRP in the last few years and not one of them was from
one motorcycle brother disrespecting the other. All were
self inflicted or a car or motorhome did them in!
I would bet you are going off of hear say and never saw
this happen in person. I'm just guessing here"
I saw a guy on hismotorcycle last yearrear endhis
wifesmotorcycle and they both went to the hospital
with serious injury's, this was about 3 miles of the
BRP though and no one died! They were just a husband
and wife that made a very bad mistake.

Actually, I knew members in the group where the girl was killed...So I guess that was hearsay. In the second accident, I only saw the riders of one bike after they lost their left legs after being struck by another bike that crossed the double yellow line and struck them...So I guess that would be seesay.

The left leg wreck was on NC HWY 28 not far from the
Dragonif memory serves me correctly, a friend of
mine was behind the Wing rider that lost his leg a
told me about it. I also know the Wing rider that lost
his leg in that wreck.
(so this one is hear say on my part) sort of"
But it was NOT on the BRP"

I try to never ride the VA. end of the BRP if I can help it,
that end of the BRP just has nothing much to see, it
sorta reminds me of ND.MO.KS.TX.NB. and all the other
flat boring states I don't like riding in! LOL"

I've been passed many times in my own lane.
More often than not, I have waved them through at a straight section.
It always pisses me off when someone blasts by uninvited. Especially doing over 100mph when they go by.

I think it's a two way street (no pun intended) The passer should have the courtesy to wait until either
a) he has a legal way to pass
or
b) you wave him by allowing him to pass.
Having said that, if you're on a twisty road that bikes tend to frequent, I think you (or anyone riding) should extend that same courtesy to someone that wants to go around. No one said pull over and stop... just pull to the right a bit and wave him on.
Some HD riders won't do it. I think that's just being ignorant. If it's safe for you to pull a bit to the side for a moment, why ruin someone's else's ride just cause they want to go faster.
Respect for other riders goes a long way.

Virginia law says ya can't occupy the same lane with someone else. They are in the wrong. Next time, if they come up on ya, block em. Even if ya have to go over the yellow lane. That'll make em think twice about tryin to pass a Harley.
