More often then not I will move to the far right and wave them by...but only when I am ready and think it is safe. Otherwise its my lane.
There was an accident on the freeway recently with 2 bikes in the car pool lane. Don't know the particulars but they were traveling the same direction so it wouldn't surprise me if it was a similar situation and one clipped the other.

Being from, and riding in the great state of California for a long time, I got used to "lane sharing." The Cali law says that a car and a bike can occupy the same lane, so why not two bikes. Sure do miss "lane sharing" up to the front of the light, then blasting away.
I would wave them by, but on the Blue Ridge Pkwy? Lots of curves, and lots of cops. This is not the place to haul a$$, or pass in the same lane. This is a leasurely drive/ride road. Passing lanes are non-existent, from what I remember. So the HD riders were going the speed limit. What's the problem?

In most states, passing in the same lane is a ticket just waiting for ya. That being said...NO ONE passes me in my own lane...EVER! I have seen too many youngsters that won't get older due to stupid crap like that. They run up on someone, try to pass in the lane, and the person they are passing, gets startled and an accident insues. Follow the law of the state you are in, and anywhere on the Blue Ridge, Passing in the same lane is illegal.

I've been passed many times in my own lane.
More often than not, I have waved them through at a straight section.
It always pisses me off when someone blasts by uninvited. Especially doing over 100mph when they go by.

If you ever ride the Dragon's Tail, get used to being passed. I've taken switchbacks withrice rockets toe-to-toe. I consider the DT a rider's road and expect to be passed. Most of them wait until our group waves them through.

I think it's a two way street (no pun intended) The passer should have the courtesy to wait until either
a) he has a legal way to pass
or
b) you wave him by allowing him to pass.
Having said that, if you're on a twisty road that bikes tend to frequent, I think you (or anyone riding) should extend that same courtesy to someone that wants to go around. No one said pull over and stop... just pull to the right a bit and wave him on.
Some HD riders won't do it. I think that's just being ignorant. If it's safe for you to pull a bit to the side for a moment, why ruin someone's else's ride just cause they want to go faster.
Respect for other riders goes a long way.
