Not flaming anyone, but why would you wear a full face helmet? I personally wouldnt because I like the wind in my face and the smells of spring, the freshness after a rain. I wear a half helmet and sunglass! I wear a bandana if its cold. In Canada the only ones that usually wear full face ride crotch rockets. What do you wear and why?

Well... I have both full face anda half-helmet.... my reasons are:

1. I ride in temps down below freezing sometimes - and that just isn't any fun without a full face.

2. Rain

3. Overall safety - talk to anyone who works in an ER about motorcycle accidents - and the effect on the chin / nose / face of people who have survived accidents. You just are not in full control - an accident can happen to anyone due to mechanical failure, road conditions, deer, crossing traffic etc.

So in the end, it is an evaluation of comfort and personal risk/reward. To each their own.

By the way, still get lots of smells & wind in a full face. I often ride with the visor open (with sunglasses on).

 

Not wanting to flame you or anything but...why do you wear a leather jacket? How about gloves? Why don't you wear tennis shoes when you ride? Kinda see the light?

 

I wear a full face. I can still smell everthing and still get wind in my face by opening the shield.
I also get to know that I will have a face if I slide 100' on it.
I can stay warmer in cold weather, and cooler in really hot weather.

 

My decision for wearing a full face or a skid lid is about the same as wearing a condom or not:
It depends on what I'm getting into.

I wear a half helmet butin terms of safetyI know it's stupid of me not to wear a full face.I alsoown a full face and usually wear it onlywhenit's really cold.Safety wise the only real disadvantage of the full face is I can't hear well at all,my peripheral vison isn't optimal,but it's more than good enough.

Most of the people I ride with don't wear helmets and the ones that do wear half helmets,we make our choices and take our chances,the smart choice is wear a full face.

My career is in healthcare,I've seen a lot of trauma.

 

I consider a full face my regular helmet. Here, when the summers become very hot I will compromise and wear a 1/2 Shoei. However, I feel morereassured with my full face.
