Default Battery Tender quick question

Short of pulling the battery, does a flashing red light for an extended period of time mean replace the battery? All connections are secure. I have no idea how old the battery is. But up until now, it has always gone through the normal charging process per tender instructions. Took bike for one last short ride yesterday and then buttoned her up for the season……now this.

Stait from the instruction sheet.

INDICATOR LIGHT OPERATION
RED FLASHING - When the red light is flashing, the AC power is
applied to the charger and the microprocessor circuitry is functioning
properly. There is no battery connected or there is a problem with the
connections between the charger and the battery.

check the fuse close to the battery.

My charger shuts down if the battery will no longer accept a charge.

Hope this is not the case with yours but it sounds like it may be.

Sorry. I was talking about a charger and not a tender.

Flashing red means it's not charging and there is a problem. Sure it's plugged into the battery? Only asking cause I've done that before. Lol.

Check the connections at the battery. I had that happen and when I took the battery cover off the positive wire for the tender harness where the wire bolts to the battery had broken off of the eyelet. stripped the insulation on the wire back and put a new eyelet on the end and has worked perfect ever since.

It may or may not be time for a new battery.

The flashing red light only means that the battery isn't charging, for any number of reasons.

The fuse in the battery tender harness would be a good place to start.

Yep, that is all the flashing red light means.

There could be any number of reasons why, as everyone has stated.

Check: Fuse in harness, all connections (including the ring terminal at the battery post).

I would try another tender first. My tender was flash red no matter how many times I would plug it in and unplug it. It would switch to charging and then an hour later say the battery is bad. When I bought a new riding mower I hooked up the tender and it did the same thing, but the battery has never let me down on the bike and the mower was brand new. Plus the battery voltage was correct. I broke out the other two tenders I had and they worked fine and charged up both batteries with no errors. My tender just died I guess!!

Check the fuse on the pig tail. I have the same happen on my tender and that was the problem, a blown fuse.
