Default Michelin tires

havent figured out how to post on here yet but going to give it a try. i had a michelin commander 2 on my 2013 flhtk. i got 9000 miles out of it. called michelin about it and talked to about 6 or 7 different people and didnt get an answer to anything. i thought since i got about half of the advertised mileage they might do something but no such luck. i got 12500 on factory dunlop. anybody else getting better mileage than 9000? thinking about trying the metzler next.

There are many factors that affect tire wear. Some include the pressure at which you run the tires, the road surface conditions on which you ride, and the way you ride (e.g. aggressive v.s. not so aggressive). I've gotten much better mileage from Michelin Commander II tires than any Dunlop I've ever ridden. Better handling too. As they say, your mileage may vary.

I got 24,140 miles on mine. Probably could have gotten another 1-2k out of them but I traded it off for my 2014 bike.

I got a little better than you did But no where near what they said they would go...

My 1st four Lops 401's rears all went 10k before I change them out and the two front 402's lasted an easy 20K

Last summer (13) I put new Mich's II commanders on and the rear with 11K on them is now is done and the front will need replaced very soon,,, I as you am not getting even close as to what their claims were.... NO more Cool-aid for me.. I am done with them...

My next set will be the newer 2nd generation Touring Elites..... No more Mich's II for me..
Another thing the Mich's did is they Cupped,, bad.. (rear was really bad-- the front is cupping but not as much).. NEVER had that Issue with any of the LOPS...

I got a little more than 18k out of my last rear , and that is on a 140 tire, I check my tire pressure often , and run the rear at 42psi.
I think you are about the only one I know of that has had poor mileage out of yours.

Yeah, they like air. I kept the front at 40 and the rear at 42 (vs. 37 front and 40 rear in the stock Dunlops).

I've got about 15,000 on my Commander IIs and I'll probably put another 1 or 2k on them before I replace them. I'm wanting to try the new Metzler Me888's. Not because I'm unhappy with the Michelins but I had Metzlers on another bike and really liked how they handled. I'm hoping the current Michelins will hold out for a while longer because the 888's aren't available in a 200 rear yet.

Yeah, there's always some clown who doesn't keep 'em aired up,and then whines about "cupping",and poor tire life. 37 front,42 rear on the Road King, got 22,000 out of the front, rear is at 24,000 and will be done soon. Way better tires than Dunlop E3's,only got 18,000 out of those, with poor traction in the corners, and a much harder ride than Michelins.

I'm on my second set of Dunlop E3's. About double the mileage of the stock HD tires and I like how they take the steel gratings on bridges, nice and straight. The only problem is if you HAVE to have whitewalls, you're out of luck.
