Default Using a dealer to buy a 3rd party bike

Just the facts:
I have a 2013 Fat Bob
I lust after a 2012 Wide Glide that has just dropped in price to my comfort zone. (owned by individual)

I'd like the dealer to buy the Wide Glide, and then I trade in my Fat Bob on the Wide Glide.

Advantage to me: I save sales tax and I don't sit with 2 bikes for a while.
Advantage to dealer: Don't know, but I'd be willing to take a price reduction on the trade-in value of my Fat Bob.

Anyone ever done this?

The dealer won't give you anywhere near what you can get for your bike if you sell it as an individual.

This sounds like a loose loose to me.

I guarantee the dealer will make money on that deal.

After the dealer gets the Wide Glide the price wouldn't be in your comfort zone any longer.
How does that effect your deal?

More than likely it will affect his trade in value (lower).

Dealer near me will actually finance third party bikes.

My plan was

Have them finance an EVO I wanted, I could trade my shadow in to the dealer to get some money off the price.

Get the bike financed by the dealer.

Take out a credit union loan (lower interest) and pay off the Harley loan

Done deal.

If the dealer buys the Wide Glide, I'm pretty sure he won't sell it to you for what he paid for it.

To answer your question, No, I've never done it.

Yes, I see that advertised on Ebay all the time. HD Dealer financing Seller to Buyer sells. I asked my closest dealer (50 Miles away) and they said they don't it. Up to each dealer if they want to or not. There is another dealer (80 Miles away) that does. Both the seller and the buyer have to go the the dealers location. Most times when I find a bike I like its located closer to the 50 mile one. (Bigger city) So I haven't checked into to it any farther. Anyone know what the interest rate is? Or is that up to each dealer as well?
