Spoke to service they said just get in before 1500 miles. I would do oil myself but I want them to comb over bike for anything plus it has to go in for recall that technically doesn't effect my particular bike but they are switching out all the 14 Low Riders.

I changed my own oil at 1,000 miles. I didn't bring it in for it's first service until 3,000 miles. Before I had the chance to tell the service writer at my Harley shop that I changed the oil myself at 1,000 miles, he said "no problem, happens all the time, people buy a new Harley and go on a long road trip and don't bring it back for the 1st service until thousands of miles later. I'll just make a note here that you went on a road trip and you just got back and came right in."

Would you believe that there are people that can't even comprehend what life is like for some people in the city? And, I'm not even being a smart ***. It goes the other way, too. Crazy to me, because I got to experience both of them growing up. LOL

Yes, short are the days of living in big houses with double garages. I see it here in Fort Lauderdale, the trend going from residential living to moving back into the city where new condos are being erected 20 stories high every year. Parking garages and elevators is how the future will thrive. Big garages in suburbia will be a thing of the past.

I always get the 1000 mi service at the dealership. As close to 1000 mi as possible. After that I do all but warranty work, period. Your owners manual has a few pages dedicated to service records. If you decide to have work done outside of an authorized HD shop be sure to keep records.

Just curious why you planned this trip instead of planning to get the service done, on time? The odometer didn't just suddenly pop up to 1,000 mile unexpectedly. An extra 200 miles won't hurt. But this says something about your planning skills.

Well I ALMOST planned it perfectly except last Sunday I ended up riding around close to 200 miles since it was nice out unexpectedly so if it was not for that I would have nailed it!
