According to this site, the MN state law says:

"Maximum Sound Level Max A-weighted sound level ranges from 80-90dBA measured at 50 feet (Sec.7030.1050)."

The web site is:

http://home.ama-cycle.org/amaccess/l...t.asp?state=mn

Hope this helps some.

Bob

OK, I say measure 50 feet from the front of my bike. The law is very open ended.

I would also turn the bike off if no RPM's are "required"

When they decide to crack down on the cars going BOOOM-BOOOM, down the road ways blasting MOTHER ******. MOTHER ******, then they can come talk to me about my pipes. Until then they can KISS MY A$$. Period!
Well said. My V&H Big Radius aren't corrupting youth like that C-RAP I hear pumping out of every other car window at maximum volume. I can listen to damn near everything, but that crap actually makes me mad when I hear it. Wish it were legal to chuck grenades into those little punk-a$$ open windows...

Last night on the news, the Stillwater mayor discussed the issue a reporter. At the end of the story the mayor rode off into the sunset on his HD. The local paper also reported the story.

Then they need to ban babies. They are louder than any pipe. Leaf blowers and lawnmowers need to be banned. The fart cans on all the ricer cars need to be banned. Why not just ban everything?
let's ban banning while we're at it!

Pipes, like somany other things in life -especially the motorcycling life hold to the time tested rule that goes like this: If you look for trouble long enough and hard enough - you'll find it!
