Thunderheader install question
As I put in an earli er post I am getting a Thunderheader 2 into 1 next week and I was wondering if anyone here has ever installed on of these bad boys on a touring bike? If so can you give me some feedback on the difficulty of the installation? and also can I ride the bike from my house to the dealership "20 miles"?? I will be running with no heatshields untill next month as I am getting the TH from JP cycles and following up with the heatshield order when my wallets a little fatter next month.

I installed one on my '07 FLHRS and it is a simple install. I already had a Stage 1 download as I was running SE slipons and a SE air cleaner so I did no changes to anything other than installing the Thunderheader. Removing the original exhaust was more time consuming than the install. Used the original O2 sensors. I also ran without heat shields for about a month. I have the black TH.
If your bike is stock and all you are changing is the exhaust, you can run it like that forever without doing any damage. If you also change to a high performance air cleaner than you will need a ecu download.
The TH sounds and runs great. Enjoy.

My bike is a little beyond stock it is a 2014 Streetglide with 211 cams SE Racetuner and an SE Heavy Breather. My current exhaust is a set of Rush true duel headers and a set of Vance and Hines Slip ons, I know hat a Dyno will be needed but I am concerned as to whether or not a standard Thunderheader will be good for this bike becouse the guys at the dealership keep wanting me to order the x series and then I have friends telling me that the standard Thunderheader will work just fine and sound great to.....S now I am confused on what to do.

If your already running with cams, new A/C, SERT, and head pipe, you shouldn't need another Dyno tune unless you never did one to begin with. The 211's wouldn't have been my choice for a StreetGlide but O'well if you're happy OK.

I did the 211s at the recomendation of my mechanic and I am not unhappy except with the low end performance I like the lope that it gave the bike. I think the reason he said he would need to dyno the bike is that he did the first tune with this true duel system and now Ill be going to a 2 into 1.
