Default Dealer did not honor estimate

It was actually $50 less than the estimate!

Replaced the stator - when I picked it up today, the manager told me it took less time than they thought so it was less than I expected.

How often does that happen?

In dealerships, probably never.

In independent shops, probably rarely.

There are good dealers and good indy's out there. But just like anything else you have to look for the good ones.

It's just an estimate, it doesn't mean that's the exact price you will be paying.

It's called integrity and it's getting harder to find these days.

My daughter was going to school in La Crosse WI. I had her take her car in to Pete at Conway's.

He called me with an estimate, and sounded all serious, got me nervous, and told me I needed a new Serpentine belt, and a few other things, and it would be $80. When I called to pay with my credit card he said it was $50. I said you told me $80, and he said the belt was NAPA and was guaranteed so he didn't have to pay the $30 for the part. Pretty sure most mechanics would have considered that a bonus. Nice to know you can trust your mechanic.

When I dropped it off , I was quoted $425. Picked it up and paid $375.
I think the service guy could easily have just kept the same price and not said a thing.
Kerstings Harley Davidson treated me right.

You might want to drop off a case of suds for the service staff some Friday afternoon.
