Is there a easy way to oil the clutch cable?

Default How do you measure main drive gear end play

Took down my 78 shovel to fix oil leak on main drive gear. Little mixed up on how to do the end play ck. Took chain sprocket off seal and spacer. May-be
have left spacer and seal in. .125 is my end play. way off

I lube the clutch cable once a year with a thick oil and also all pivot points and it pulls about as easy as the 14's hyd clutch

You could plug the vent tube on the tranny and ride it until oil comes out at the clutch handle, then remove the plug and add more oil to the tranny....

+1 on not using DRY SLIDE on teflon cables, just about locked up my cable on a trip. Lucky an HD dealer in Portland Or. was close, cost me $50 to get that crap cleaned out.

Believe you are correct with the lining from what I have read (all bets off with aftermarket and such)...Mine at 40K have never been lubed. All you are going to do is crude it up. If it ever gets tight, replace it at 100K.

+1 - The newer cables (since 2009??) have a visible (white) Teflon liner and are not supposed to get/need lubrication. If you feel the need to lube one of these, I wouldn't use anything other than Dri-Slide.
