Post up a picture of your FXR

I'm not sure how easily you'll be able to find replacement lower legs for your front end. We were not able to find a new set to replace a wide glide front end on the shovelhead FXR in the RT fairing thread. You can get them looking very presentable by stripping them, gently sanding then polishing them until they have a chrome like luster. You could also paint or powder coat them if polishing doesn't them isn't your first choice. Good luck on your project.

Rizzo, You know that those are the Std 39mm narrowglide tube/sliders that someone just used with aftermarket WG Trees?
But the advice still holds true because a 99-earlier 39mm Right side slider with caliper mounts is getting hard to find ... and really no reason to. Just refinish if desired.
Disregard if that's what you meant

1987 FXRS-SP al LEAST 100k miles.
As the pic reads... 29 January '22. My sons first Harley.
I cant call it an FXR yet.... This is my son's bike we made a down payment on Saturday. For now we're calling it the "project". Will have to replace the front end, mid controls and handle bars to be able to use it this summer, then if it runs as it should we'll dump some more cash into it to make it "pretty". Time will tell....

RIZZO: When I was looking at them they looked smaller because of the WG trees. I measured them.... 39mm. Will be getting the correct trees and a 19" wheel. As for the looks... might need to polish or make 'em BLACK ! depends on what Alex (my son)wants for "end product".
MULTIHDRDR: Good eyesight!
ThePaintPirate: March should be good, temperature wise in the Florence area. I'm quite a bit further north and its still kinda chilly....
If there's any info you might need before you leave send me a PM.
P.S. : If you want to bring your FXR Convertible over here as "Hand Baggage" I'll be happy to take a load off your hands !!!

While scrounging on-line for parts tonight I came across a used FLT/FXR manual cheap in any of you are interested. Don't know the seller, just passing on what appears to be a good deal for $30.

My first Harley, 91 FXR bought in 93, still my favorite bike
2008 when I was living and working in Las Vegas a couple years. Was running my evo modded to 97" with Axtell big jugs and Branch heads. Hot combo.
2021 in Texas. New paint by Mike Romero out of Henderson, NV. Ultima 113, 2" drags

FYI, I originally posted this as quick reply to another post, then reconsidered. I'm learning the best way to post, so you won't see me do this again.
Comments in this post are about my personal experiences with exhaust.
Love the performance of the Thunderheader, but I scraped the lower tube really badly on my 91 when it was still the 97" configuration. Cracked it just under the footpeg where it wasn't easily visible, didn't realize it for hundreds of miles. It also cracked a bolt on the front exhaust, which broke off a couple weeks later during a long road trip. A few years later, I lost a meg off some 2into1 pipes, bought some 1 3/4" drags that were all that was available locally in Little Rock (I was visiting), and have been running those since. Actually, I recently replaced those with 2" drags, cause I couldn't find 1 3/4". Kind of a pain to put on, I had to dimple the tube with a socket and hammer to make room to get the nut on the rear exhaust. I would like to run a 2into1 set, but I haven't found a set that will fit on the larger heads of the Ultima, and since it runs good now, searching for some is a low priority.
