Post up a picture of your FXR
#51
Been hanging out in the touring and pan am sections, I missed there’s an FXR section now!
Me, my dad, and some good friends Built this one from a bare frame
1993 fxrsp, racetech front and rear, Trac swing arm, 85” axtell kit, royal-T pipe, ebc rotors with wilwood calipers, painted the ghost flames myself, Jim’s fat 5 trans. Gonna add some bags and a little bigger fairing to make it more practical. Fun bike to ride!

That bike is so nice, very tastefully done. Didn't know Wilwood made brakes for HD, gonna look into that. Well Done

Back in the late 70's I bought a ratty old Sportster that was in need of a paint job on the tins. The Harley dealer had that color red lacquer paint in rattle cans. I picked up a bunch of it and went home and painted my bike. I forget how many coats of paint I put on, but it had to be at least 5 or 6, sanding inbetween each coat. When it was done I wet sanded everything and buffed it out. The bike looked like a red marbel. I always did like that color.

1987 FXRS-SP al LEAST 100k miles.
As the pic reads... 29 January '22. My sons first Harley.
I cant call it an FXR yet.... This is my son's bike we made a down payment on Saturday. For now we're calling it the "project". Will have to replace the front end, mid controls and handle bars to be able to use it this summer, then if it runs as it should we'll dump some more cash into it to make it "pretty". Time will tell....
