My 83 FXRS with a fatboy front end....ugh. Why do people do crap like that?

I have a new pair of 1200R forks for it, disc glide wheels, 4 piston callipers with EBC pads and russel rotors almost ready to go on, correct bars and NOS gauges. The color is original to the bike but its a repaint so with a clear conscience I'll be changing the color next year. I got rid of the RT foot boards too and went back to the correct mid pegs.

Someone had an FXR but wanted a Fatboy. Those are some serious wheelbarrow handlebars. Good luck on the project and be sure to post a build thread.

Hammz is my hero! His bike inspired me to put together my 1987 FXRC/D/S/T/Convertible. I'm in the process of installing a dual FXRD exhaust. I've already installed Road King 12" air shocks out back. Rides nice and smooth.

Yes. Canadian model.

I’m currently running with Screaming Eagle slip-ons (originals stored) and Bitubo shocks (original Fox shocks are rebuilt and in storage).

i also replaced all the grips and pegs with plain HD logo’d rubber ones. I have the originals but the rubber rings on the pegs should be replaced and are impossible to find (and I prefer the plain rubber ones anyway).

Otherwise it’s 100% stock.

I ended up sourcing parts from Johannesburg, Holland (great source of FXR NoS parts there), Brazil, and all across NA.

The hardest parts to find were the mirrors (the ones in the pic are not original and have been replaced). As far as I can tell they were only used on a production bike on the FXR4 (so only 1 model with less than 1000 bikes made for the 1 year of production).

Thankfully it had the original air filter cover (embossed with the model designation “FXR4” as Harley did with all models back then) because I’m sure I’d have never found another.

When I was finished I got HD to write me a letter of authenticity modelled on the ones Porsche will sell you. Not sure what that is worth but it makes for an interesting audition to the file.
