Default Shutter diagnosis. Bearing, steering, forks???

When my bike is slowing down, it gets a shutter at 20MPH down to 15MPH. I recently shut the bike off and let it slow to these speeds and there isn't much noise, just a very quiet hum when it is shuttering. The confusing thing is that if I lean the bike left or right, the shutter completely goes away. I'm not thinking it's a tire issue since it came on suddenly. Are these symptoms of any other parts failing, such as steering parts or forks? Maybe wheel bearings? Anyone have experience with something like this? Thanks!

FYI: 2006 Street Glide, 29K miles

I have an FXSTB 09 that gets a wobble at those same speeds. Mine happens speeding up or slowing down. Dealer put new tires on for me and said I needed to adjust my steering fall-out. I did, but the problem persists.

Sorry I don't have an answer, just consolation that you aren't alone.

Wink

I would start by checking tyre pressures, to make sure they are up to spec. Then check steering head bearings. There is a helpful guide to doing that on HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal's website, which you can download, right here.

Thanks for the input guys. I put brand new tires front and rear and the problem persists. Wheel bearings checked out ok. I will check that link on the steering head bearings.

I rode a used '09 that I was thinking of buying that had a pronounced shudder like that. I mentioned it to the salesman. A mechanic rode the bike and said there was nothing wrong with it. My 2013 has some shudder at around 1k rpm when slowing, but it is intermittent. I have written it off as normal.

Boro, the shudder from engine rattle is noticeable on most harleys at certain rpms. I wouldn't worry much about that. I get my shudder even when the bike is turned off and rolling down the road. My mechanic can't feel the shudder but I notice stuff like this though so I definitely feel it.
