Default HD chrome brake questions

Not really a techy question but related to brakes so here goes...

When swapping out the stock brakes for chrome units, does HD offer some type of core charge or something to defer the cost a bit. Pricing this out I will spend over $400 just for the rear caliper on my Springer alone.

Is it possible to have the stock black calipers chromed aftermarket? If so, is it less expensive than new ones? How about quality? My local wrench has implied at times that newer chrome plating is not like it used to be.

I want to do this but its a big chunk of green.

Some dealers offer a core exchange if the part they are giving you has been chromed through them, otherwise the new part does not include a core exchange. There is always exceptions to this. It eliminates the down time to buy a new part otherwise you can have the stock unit chromed by a reputable chromer.

Chrome is chrome, quality comes in the prep work. You can get the stock calipers chromed for $50 to $100 each depending on where you go. Like glide said, you will have downtime going this route, unless you can find a plater that has an exhange program. Here is some platers

Downtime isn't a huge concern right now. I'll look into chroming the stock units. Thanks.

Make sure that your 'chrome guy' can seal off all the areas that need to be...

If you get the coating down into the innards of the caliper..you're done.

I had mine powdercoated to match my paint...and it was like $30 a caliper, plus like $13 each for the gaskets to rebuild. Much cheaper option - and is a bit more unique than chrome.
