Question Front brake- no brake light

So this could obviously be something electrical, but.. The brake light stopped working when I took off everything on my throttle side of the bars because I was messing with the throttle. When I put everything back together I was having a tough time putting the brake lever back on (I kind of man handled it) and I heard a "pop" kind of like something snapped. Does anyone know if I could have broke something? It's all put back together and the brake works fine, just doesn't activate the brake light. I have 8 inch apes and the wires are run internal, could it just be a bad connection? Thanks!

We can help you better if you tell us what model and year bike you have! I had problems with my Buell, but as I have the factory manual and parts books I was able to work out how the front brake light switch is attached, remove and clean it - bingo!

You can see where the switch is on whatever your bike is on any of the on-line parts websites, like this one. It is likely on a Harley that the switch is inside the switch housing, so you may have to dismantle it to sort things out.

It is likely that you have disturbed the wiring or possibly even damaged the brake switch in the twistgrip housing. Take care, as it is a bit delicate!
