actually I go bymy dealers recommendation 40 rear, 32 front.

If it weren't for that, I would go by the book.

Sidewall only.
The motor company does not make tires, the tire company does. So they know best and label their tire to that spec....................pg

If 36 front/40 rear is printed on the sidewall or manual, then that's what I follow.

On the sidewall it is mostly to air the tire up for mounting purposes. I usually go by the book.

Wrong, the sidewall is where you should always look for proper inflation numbers for that tire. As piniongear said the tire company makes tires not the MOCO.

I use to keep my pressures at about 30 psi front and rear (for the softer ride)but was having cupping problems so I went to 36 front and 40 rear. Now the tires last much better and I don't get the cupping and it is about what is recommended, live and learn for me, but hey, it's all good----jack
