You have to ask around. If you really want to go high-tech, ask for a 50-50 mix with helium. It'll improve your mileage like you won't believe.

 

I go by the sidewall, but i dont know if thats cold or not...and i dont adjust it for a passenger. that helium mix sounds pretty good any suggestions to what i should do

 

This is a funny conversation.

Think about it guys...the book is a SUGGESTION based on the average sized rider. The sidewall is a MAXIMUM for that tire. I strongly suggest you find a happy medium...if you ride you bike you will quickly discover the pressure you and your bike enjoy the most.....

Come on people it is not rocket science.

Oh and in my Jeep I run 10 psi.

 

I'll run either tire between 36 and 40 depending on my mood and the road condition.

 

The question was asked cause in nascar,Goodyear dictates which tires to use (hard or soft compound)and also tells them not to go under certain pressures and not to go over certain pressures (not all tires require the same pressures). This is the manufacturer of the tirenot the car manufacturer. I'm still going by the sidewall, thats my story and I'm sticking to it. Dave...

 

either way, check tire psi every week or two. it could save your life . consider weight, outside temp.road condition,etc. only a 10 degree temp change will change your psi,and always check tires when cold . not after riding.

 

NEVERby the Sidewall , ALWAYS by the book -the Official Harley book at least on stock tires, I have a Haynes Softail manual and they are totally lost , off by 6 lbs. in most cases . In cases of different sizes than stock , consult the tire manufacturer .

Not asking anybody to run out and do this, but the best air for your tires is
Nitrogen. It can be bought at any Pep Boys or who ever carries it. You can
check this out on your own but it is true.
