Drive Belt Rubbing On Top Side
My 2001 FXSTB has started to rub the belt against the starter shaft for the first time in the 8 years since I put a lowering kit (shock extensions) on it and it makes a whining sound you can hear when slowing to a stop.
To softail springs sag with time? The belt is properly adjusted and I have tried raising it within the limits of the lowering kit.
Do I need to take the extensions off or what else could it be?
Thanks,
Tom

Since you have had the lowering kit on for 8 years and nothing else on the bike has changed I would certainly take a look at shock replacement as an option. Shocks do lose the ability to perform/function properly as time goes by. We use progressive as a replacement but I see many people on this forum like the shotgun shocks as a Softail replacement.
