Default Showa Front end experts???

GRR!!! Had my 87 xl frame modified to accept 6"over tubes. Stock is 35mm and 23-1/4" (Nom.). Problem is, I can't find 6" over tubes for an '87xl. I found 2" & 4" over in V Twin, but no 6" over (or 29-1/4"). Then found 6" over, 35mm tubes for FX and xl thru 1983. How much different could they be, Right? 35 mm versus 35 mm, both Showa Front ends, I mean they are the same, aren't they?
Not quite. The bottom of the 83 xl tube has no place for the copper bushing on the 86, 87 Showa tubes. It actually appears (To me) that the steel tube is sized to replace (Or obviate the need for) the copper bushing. Is that the only difference?
Will the '87 lower leg accommodate the 83 tube?

Have you tried Biker's Choice? They have 6" over fork tubes up to 86, and they look like they have the machined area for the slider bushing. Not very familiar with older forks, just thought I might have found something for you here...

Thanks I'll make a note of "Biker's Choice".

In the meantime, I discovered two model numbers on the inside of the lower legs. One ending in -83 the other in - 84. Looks to me like the sliders used in 87 were also used in 83. The Tubed form drag specialties are for XL 75-83 so it looks like I am good to go. I'll see if I can call Drag Specialties to confirm. Thanks for your comment!
