Default 1957 Sporty Frame

Hi all. New member here....I've had a good time so far reading all the different posts.
I've got a question concerning frames. My dad and I just went in together and purchased a 57' sporty basket case. We have the origional frame, (we think) but it looks like it had been altered in some weird way. How can I find out the demensions (rake, etc)
that it is supposed to be? I have pictures, if that would help anybody. I'm going to mediablast it at work, (I'm a bodyman), and remove some old filler "Putty", and it looks like the two front rials were welded some way. How do I find out that this is a true 1957 frame? And how do I find out if it was modified? Any info would be appreciated. I just dont want us to go any further if thius frame is all jacked up. get it?
Thanks alot.
Steven
