What about the stock ride do you not like? I needed to lower my 2010 SEUC to get closer to the ground. I used Progressive 940's on the rear, and Progressive Mono Tubes on the front. I really didnt dislike the ride, just needed to get lower to the ground, thats why I chose the 940's, they are 1 inch lower.
The ride is definently firmer, not harsh. I figured losing 1 inch of travel it would be. No front end dive under braking, had to adjust preload to get it not to bottom out when 2 up. Once I got the rears adjusted, and put some miles on it, I really enjoy the way it handles. Have 2 other friends that wanted to ride it, because they have Ultra Classics, but different years, and their thoughts were the same. Rides a little firmer, more like a sport bike, than a touring bike.
If you like the very soft ride of the stock suspension, the Progressive ride is firmer, any may not be to your liking. You do feel more of the road, the bike doesnt seem to float down the road, as much as you are driving it down the road.

I recommend you call Howard at HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal. He will build a set of Ohlins to suit your needs.
