Default Need some new tires!

Alright guys I bought some 18's for my 03 fatboy. I need to buy some tires. The wheels are 18X4. I was looking at putting 140/70/18 Metzlers on the front and rear. Someone told me that they did not like the Metzlers and to buy some Avons. What do you guys think? Any input would be great!

I've always heard good things about Metzelers. I had an Avon Venom on the back once and I didn't like how fast the last of the tread wore out. I get the best wear out of Dunlop 491s, myself.
You didn't ask, but I hate 18" wheels on fat bikes. Looks WRONG!

I think the Metzelers would be an excellant choice. They handle great and track straight on all surfaces. I have seen a 140/18 on the rear of a fatboy and the tire looked very narrow. You may want to consider a larger tire for the rear

Dunlops are not bad. Decent ride and tread life. Not a top of the line tire. Tried Michelin Commanders once. Horrible tire. Lousy traction that got worse in the rain and snow. Took them off long before they wore out. Then switched to Avon Roadrunner's. Excellent tire. Smooth ride, excellent traction and stability, and good tread life. Maybe a hair better than the Dunlops, but probably about the same.

Thanks for the input guys. Right now I am thinking about getting the Avons. I did a little research before I decided to buy these wheels. And a 150/80/16 Dunlop (stock tire) measures- 6.2 inches wide and 25.4 inches in diameter. A 140/70/18 measures 6.1 inches wide and 25.7 inches in diameter. So a 140 is actually a little smaller in the width but only a tenth of an inch.
